Over 60 years of company history, three generations, one team: At Völcker + Peters For them, continuity is not just a buzzword, but the very foundation of the business. When asked what the company is particularly proud of today, Jan Peters of Völcker + Peters doesn’t have to think twice: „Over 60 years of successful company history, our strong team and the trust of our customers.“

This profile shows how the business, founded in 1963, has developed into a service partner with an unusually broad range of services, and why the Alltrucks partnership has been an integral part of this story since 2017. Our profile of also demonstrates that family-run businesses form the backbone of the network. Tiemann in Barnstädt.

Four values have underpinned the business over six decades: „Customer focus, reliability, quality and a long-term perspective as a family business," says Jan Peters when asked what has guided Völcker + Peters over the years. It is the common thread that ties together all the stages of the company’s history.

Six decades, three generations

Key figures: 1963 the foundation, 1971 the new building, 2014 the handover to the third generation, 2017 joining the Alltrucks network, 2024 the move to the new premises. Five milestones that Jan Peters himself describes as particularly significant.

The fact that a business has remained in family hands for over six decades and was handed over to the third generation in 2014 is by no means a given in this sector. For customers, this means that responsibility and the promise of service remain within the company — which is precisely what Peters means by a family business with a long-term outlook.

From passenger cars to refrigerated transport: the full range

What sets Völcker + Peters apart today – something you might not realise at first glance? Peters‘ answer is clear: „The wide range: from cars and vans to heavy commercial vehicles, vehicle manufacturing and refrigerated transport.“ The company therefore caters to a range of services that extends far beyond that of a traditional lorry workshop.

For customers, this range of services means convenience: anyone who wants to have their fleet of cars, vans and heavy goods vehicles managed from a single location also benefits from vehicle manufacturing and refrigerated transport services here. Peters sees this as the very reason for the company’s loyal customer base — its experience, personalised service and the ability to offer a wide range of services from a single source.

Multi-brand expertise is also part of the service: vehicles and trailers from all major manufacturers are professionally serviced and repaired, and since 2017 this has been carried out within the technical framework of the Alltrucks network.

The team and everyday life in the workshop

„Friendly, helpful and solution-oriented – we all pull together,“ says Peters, describing the team spirit. For him, what makes the team special is „the combination of decades of experience, modern technology and genuine team spirit“. In his view, a really good workshop needs four things: skilled staff, modern technology, quick solutions and reliability.

Routine is the exception in day-to-day work. „Every vehicle and every challenge is different; there’s hardly any routine,“ says Peters. It’s the cases where a quick response prevents a breakdown and gets a customer back on the road at short notice that stick in the memory most of all. Because that’s exactly what inspires the team in the commercial vehicle sector: helping to ensure, day in, day out, that customers remain mobile and can get their work done.

At the same time, the nature of the work is changing: vehicles are becoming more technically complex, and diagnostics and electronics are playing an increasingly important role. Meanwhile, customers are preoccupied with their own concerns: vehicle availability, running costs, alternative powertrains and maximising fleet uptime. The profile of [...], for example, shows how other family-run businesses in the network are dealing with this change. Michels in Hahn am See.

Why Alltrucks: the network behind the workshop

In 2017, the company decided to enter into the partnership in order to further expand its multi-brand expertise and offer customers an even better service. Peters sums up exactly what this means today: „Access to technical know-how, diagnostic data and a strong network.“

01

Multi-brand expertise covering all major commercial vehicle manufacturers

The Alltrucks portfolio covers all major commercial vehicle manufacturers. For Völcker + Peters, this means that vehicles and trailers from various manufacturers can be professionally serviced and repaired without the company having to stock parts for every single make itself.

02

Technical expertise and diagnostic data

The network is a valuable resource, particularly when it comes to complex diagnoses and technical issues involving vehicles from different manufacturers — for example, via the Alltrucks Technical Forum, where partner garages work together to resolve tricky cases.

03

Tangible benefits for customers

Faster fault diagnosis, high-quality repairs and servicing for a wide range of vehicle makes — this is how Peters describes the benefits of the partnership that are felt directly by customers.

Added to this is the scale of the network itself: more than 650 partner workshops in 18 countries operate under the Alltrucks umbrella to comparable standards. The fact that this exchange is not a one-way street was most recently demonstrated in June 2026, when the Alltrucks Partner Advisory Board, together with Peter Ortmann, Alltrucks Sales Manager for DACH-NL, visited Völcker + Peters.

New location, clear direction

The move in 2024 was the most recent major milestone in the company’s history. What does the new location make possible? „More space, more modern working conditions and the consolidation of all services in one place,“ says Peters.

At Völcker + Peters, they take a level-headed view of the changes sweeping the industry: digitalisation, alternative powertrains and increasing demands for efficiency and sustainability will transform the business. Nevertheless — or perhaps precisely because of this — the goal for the next five to ten years is clearly defined: to be the region’s leading commercial vehicle and service partner, with a strong team and satisfied customers.

Advice for the next generation

What advice does Jan Peters give to young people looking to enter the industry? „Stay curious, be open to new technology and make the most of the opportunities offered by an industry with a bright future." What he looks forward to most each morning is working with the team — and the daily challenges.

Over 60 years, three generations, a new location: Völcker + Peters demonstrates how a family business combines tradition with a willingness to invest – and why customer focus, reliability, quality and a long-term outlook continue to pay off even after six decades. Since 2017, this story has been an integral part of the Alltrucks network, something we at Alltrucks are very proud of. Dear Jan, we’re already looking forward to our 10th anniversary next year!
